Built upon the simple steel frame of a previous home and a love of mid-century modern art and architecture, the Chile's Residence extends its light-filled spaces to embrace the surrounding hillside forest. Simple geometries are met with lyric shifts in plan and section to form living areas that are carefully placed between an enclosed courtyard and a rooftop perch.

Distinct stairs, one beneath the light-well core of the house, and one spiraling up the exterior, create a dynamic path that connects verdant garden to ethereal lanai. Rusting steel plate and white painted steel beams offer contrast and insight into the material that, along with wood, aluminum, and glass, help meld art and landscape into home.
